Amanda Rigali - Chair

Director, Combined arts and Touring, Arts Council England

Amanda’s career in the arts began in research and teaching. She then worked at the Almeida Theatre, Sphinx Theatre Company and DV8 Physical Theatre, before joining the Arts Council in 2004. In her current role Amanda is responsible for the national overview of Combined arts and developing the Arts Council’s approach to touring.

Artistic Director and Chief Executive, Contact Theatre

Baba is a New Yorker raised in the Living Theatre, a world-travelled, political and Avant Garde group. Baba began his own career at the legendary Nuyorican Poets Cafe.

He is a director, producer, theatre and hip hop artist and the co-founder of Playback NYC Theatre Company which aims to bring theatre to underrepresented communities. His commitment is demonstrated through his workshops at schools through the Open Thought Arts programme and 3 Future Fires placements from Contact Theatre. He has performed with artists such as Outkast, The Roots, Rahzel, Ron Carter, Afrika Bambaataa, Vernon Reid, and Bill Cosby.

An accomplished musician and performer specialising in new music and jazz, Clive has almost 20 years of experience involved in programming and arts management. His background includes producing and managing a number of performing arts festivals and venues. Clive is currently Relationship Manager for Combined Arts  at Arts Council England. Venues managed include Brewhouse Arts Centre and Croydon Clocktower.

Gitta originally trained as a dancer at London Contemporary Dance School and Laban. Over the last ten years Gitta has worked in artist development for organisations such as The Place, Capture, OperaEstate and AnticorpiXL, as well as programming for international dance film festivals.

Relationship Manager, Music, Arts Council England

Huey was born and raised in Notting Hill, West London where he developed his passion and experience in carnival. He has lived and worked in Italy and Japan and has toured internationally with some of the most respected names in reggae music which include Sly & Robbie, Barrington Levy, The Abyssinians and many more.

Huey has worked at Arts Council England since 2005, supporting artists and arts organisations across all artforms and developing diversity policy and initiatives.

Manager and Director, Sustained Theatre and On Tour Ltd

Isobel is a freelance arts consultant and Director of On Tour Ltd, a national and international arts consultancy. She has worked in theatre nationally and internationally. Isobel previously worked at Arts Council England as Senior Officer, Theatre Strategy with a focus on black and Asian theatre development. She is currently working with Sustained Theatre on taking forward recommendations of the; Whose Theatre..... Report? and with a number of small companies assisting with organisational development.

Artistic Director, Merseyside Dance Initiative

Karen was born in Liverpool, trained at the Laban Centre for Movement and Dance in London then returned to Liverpool to develop dance in a variety of ways.  Having set up the dance and mime department for Second Out Theatre Workshop (1986) a youth training scheme, she went on to become Assistant Director at Cheshire Dance Workshop (1992-94) and then Director of Merseyside Dance Initiative (1994-present).

A renown music producer, lecturer and founder of burntprogress, a music centric production company that creates innovate opportunities for creatives professionals. CDR - 'The Night of Ideas and Tracks in the Making' is one such opportunity grooming some of today's most forward thinking artists and producers. To many he is also known as producer of Attica Blues and project guises NEPA Allstar and The Wach whose diverse production and remix credits include Macy Gray, The Cinematic Orchestra, Duran Duran and U.N.K.L.E. His lecturing and learning expertise have been utilised by companies and organisations including Red Bull, UEL and Apple.

Director of Diversity, Arts Council England

Tony Panayiotou has been Director of Diversity, Arts Council England since April 2003; he leads the Arts Council’s work on race, disability and gender equality and manages Decibel Showcase team and the Creative Case initiative. He started his career in the Race Relations Unit in the London Borough of Hackney and later became the Council’s Refugee Officer. In 1991 he joined Hackney’s Central Policy Unit working mainly on urban regeneration projects. He then spent six years at the National Association of Citizens Advice Bureaux; his last position was Assistant Director of Planning and Performance.

Simon has worked extensively as a Production Manager and Technical Director for numerous events including; Decibel Performing Arts Showcase 2007, International Dance Festival, Birmingham, LIFT (London International Festival of Theatre), Martin Firrell public projections at Royal Opera House and Ryuichi Sakamoto international touring (Japan, USA, Canada, Europe, Australia, China).

Simon has also freelanced for companies such as; DV8, Michael Clark Company, Deloitte Ignite and the Inbetween Time Festival Bristol.
