About the performance

Voce Solo is an uplifting and liberating one-man show that rejects the established boundaries of vocal expression. In an interactive performance, world beat artist Randolph Matthews takes the audience on a magical journey through song and motion, using looped samples and storytelling, creating music inspired by the audience, collaborations and space. The result is unique, beautiful, sometimes witty, always enjoyable music.

Outreach and Educational Work

‘Vocalpercussion’ - drawing not only on the power of the voice, but also on Randolph’s mastery in fusing the styles of the globe and his ancestral roots of Africa & the Caribbean. In this workshop paticipants learn to create amazing sounds through vocal songs and body percussion. Unleash your creativity, express your thoughts and feelings, and improve your musical and performance skills for all ages.

Company History

I have written and performed for 15 years with many solo productions, styles and musicians. I have provided my voice and expertise to artists’ diverse projects, where I have been featured on album releases such as: “So It Goes” by The Kaya Project, and Strangers to the ordinary’.

In 2007 I released my album "Love" fusing the styles of the globe and my ancestral British/Caribbean upbringing. Due for release this year is my second Album “Precious"

Recent Productions / Tours

2009- I have completed a tour as musical director with spoken word artist Adisa "1968" which toured to Liverpool, Birmingham, Sheffield and the London fringe at the Barbican.

2010- I started, alongside my solo project, a collaboration with flamenco guitarist Byron Johnston which has led to an album "in the shadow of leaves " and a series of bookings at the royal albert hall, national theatre and main supports.
