Outreach and Educational Work

Company Chameleon, crediting their roots in inner-city Manchester youth dance theatre community, seek to continue to support the invaluable legacy once offered to them, by delivering high quality educational programmes.

They particularly wish to act as role models to young males from a demographic such as their own. Through presenting their work out of the conventional theatre setting they hope to encourage participation and viewing from new audiences whom art forms such as this seldom reach.

Company History

Company Chameleon Dance Theatre was formed in 2007. Co-Artistic Directors Anthony Missen and Kevin Edward Turner began their collaboration in 1994 at Trafford Youth Dance Theatre, and both received formal dance training at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. Upon graduating they worked with some of the most innovative British/International Dance companies.

The thread of mentorship and collaboration between them has been uncut. In creating Company Chameleon the duo have come together to develop and present their own works.

Reviews

"One of the most powerful works of the festival had to be Baka, by Company Chameleon duo Anthony Missen and Kevin Edward Turner" "This is dance theatre at its most raw - a pulsating, violent interaction...... that is sometimes hard to watch, but impossible not to." "The addition of Company Chameleon to this year's festival was a stroke of genius." Cape Times, Review of The Annual Baxter Dance Festival, Thursday 2nd Sept 2010 "Company Chameleon was at the BDE with its young men's group and those dancers were impressing all who saw them. The education work from this company is inspiring and life changing."
