The panel responsible for selecting artists for the years showcase comprised of performing arts professionals from an experienced cross section of the performing arts sector.

Amanda Rigali - Chair person

Senior Officer, Arts Council England National office, Arts Strategy team, responsible for Touring and Combined Arts.
Amanda’s career in the arts began in research. She then went on to teach Theatre and Literature at London University and the Open University. This was followed by a role at the Almeida Theatre, General Manager of Sphinx Theatre Company and General Manager at DV8 Physical Theatre.

Garfield Allen

Chief Executive Office, The Green Room, Manchester
As head of artist recruitment, development and creative programming, Garfield’s vision has cemented the reputation of the Green Room as a natural 'home' for innovative and groundbreaking art forms that defy conventional boundaries.

Delia Barker

Senior Dance officer, Arts Council England, London office
Delia’s work covers supporting the development for individual companies, building the capacity and infrastructure of dance in London. A trained dancer in a leading UK black dance company in her 18 years in the sector she has held positions ranging from international tour manager to Arts Officer within a local authority.

Maggie Clarke

Director of X.trax, Manchester

X.trax develops and produces events and outdoor festivals as well as running strategic programmes and projects to support and develop street arts. In association with Manchester International Arts, X.trax presents an annual showcase of street arts for promoters and programmers. X.trax delivered the decibel Showcase 2003 and 2005 for Arts Council England.

Mukhtar Dar

Director of Arts at The Drum

As Director Mukhtar is responsible for presenting and developing work with creative origins from African, Asian and Caribbean cultures as well as training and education initiatives. Mukhtar is a graduate in fine arts, specialising in painting, print making, photography, installations and film making.

Penny King

Senior Strategy Officer for Music, Arts Council England national office

Working in the Arts Strategy team Penny has responsibility for supporting music development for artists, producers and audiences. Her career background is steeped in live music production, promotion and touring notably with the Contemporary Music Network and the Asian Music Circuit.

Huttson Lo

Diversity and inclusion officer, Arts Council England East

Huttson provides support for individual artists as well as planning and implementing organisational and infrastructure change. His experience also includes publishing, interactive design, visual arts and three dimensional design, as well as personal development in crafts, creative writing, dance and theatre.

Clive Lyttle

Head of Combined Arts, Arts Council England South East

An accomplished musician and performer specialising in new music and jazz, Clive has almost 20 years of experience involved in programming and arts management. His background includes producing and managing a number of performing arts festivals and venues.

Paul Russ

Artistic Director and Chief Executive of Dance4

Dance 4 is the national dance agency for the East Midlands. Paul has held a number of senior positions in dance from programmer to producer. He has played instrumental strategic roles as part of Birmingham’s Artsfest and more recently at Arts Council England East as Dance Officer.

Ammo Talwar MBE

Founder and Chief Executive of Punch Records

Punch Records has a wide portfolio of activity that includes producing music conferences, festivals, business support and development and promoting visual arts exhibitions and installations. Ammo regularly speaks at festivals, conferences and seminars nationally and internationally.

David Tse

Creative Director of Chinatown Arts Space

David trained at Rose Bruford (acting) and Leicester Haymarket (directing). He was previously Artistic Director of Yellow Earth Theatre, the UK’s only revenue-funded British East Asian touring theatre. He has extensive acting credits as well as having directed numerous classical adaptations and new writing work.

Mark Williams

Co-founder and Director of Heart ‘n Soul

Mark is a musician and ex-DJ. Heart ‘n Soul is an arts organisation established in 1986 dedicated to creating innovative new music, theatre, dance, visual art, digital art and films projects with arts professionals, older people, children and young people and people with disabilities.
