About the performance....
Title Black Atlantic
Information

Fusing West African traditional Mandingue Kora music, with griot and spoken word, over music created by seasoned funk-soul musicians and club DJ’s, AfroGroov invite us on a journey across the Black Atlantic.

This is an inventive multimedia club night fusing cutting edge DJ performance technique with traditional mixed to modern sound complimented by visuals.

Spear-headed by Malian MO DJ and Rwandan born London based DJ and cultural activist ERIC SOUL alongside live musicians, for this unique performance, the DJs will be joined on stage by guests musicians Jally Keba Susso [kora], Babacar Dieng [percussion] and Dahu Mumagi [sax-clarinette].

Company History

AFROGROOV started in 1997 as an embryonic idea born out of observing the London club and the live scenes from an french-speaking Afro-Pean perspective. Beside obvious big-name artists from African playing in places such as Barbican, Womad and RFH, there was a clear lack of interest in African music on the cool, hip and vibrant UK club and live music circuit. Today Afrogroov has become a relevant global artist-led network pushing boundaries and breaking cultural barriers in the art and music sector.

Currently involved with a weekly broadcast from the VOXAFRICA HQ based in London.

Voxafrica is a bilingual pan-african TV channel broadcasting al over Africa via satellite and worldwide via the web:
