decibel Performing Arts Showcase (13 – 16 September 2011) is a unique event that promotes diverse practice in the performing arts sector.
We provide a platform for a delegate audience of national and international promoters, producers, programmers, artistic directors and venue managers to see extracts, latest productions, and new and developing work from diverse performing arts practitioners.
We will be showcasing the best work from diverse performing arts practitioners, including those who may have had limited opportunities to participate in the arts. This includes, but is not limited to, artists from Black and minority ethnic backgrounds and disabled people.
Showcase has become a highly valuable way to experience England’s cultural and creative diversity.

Performance strands
There will be three different performance strands in which artists and companies will present their work:
1) Tour ready – a 30 minute extract of work that can be immediately scheduled into a programme and will be ready for touring from October 2011.
2) Work in progress – a 15 minute presentation followed by a 15-minute question and answer session of work that has undergone research and development but requires further work, rehearsal and possibly external input for completion.
3) Pitching sessions – a 10-15 minute session presenting and discussing work in the early conceptual stages of development that seeks input on creative and production elements.
Artist selection
The 50 artists and companies performing at Showcase have been selected through an open and robust application process by a selection panel of respected performing arts practitioners.

Complementary activity
A programme of seminars and discussions will complement Showcase performances and presentations. They will focus on topical issues of importance in strengthening diverse performing arts nationally and internationally. Full details of speakers, subjects and themes will be made available in the new few months 2011.
Between the performances and presentations there will be the opportunity for you to network, catch up with colleagues, follow up new ideas, make new contacts and partners.
